Chinamans Swim

Swim Report

It’s the last day of spring and as we now had confirmation from the powers that be at Mosman council that we can hold our 5 and 10km swim from here at the end of the year we thought it would be a good idea to check out the area.

Rosherville Reserve has been cleaned up a little bit since I was last there and at 630 in the morning it was gorgeous. There is a large expanse of grassed area, lots of shade and just a short walk to the beach. The beach was quiet, well until we turned up, and water at 21 degrees was beautiful. Tide was high just before the swimmers started. We set the course as going south to the beach near the Balmoral Baths and back which we calculated to be a 3.5km loop. The feeding station was out to provide snacks after each loop. !8 swimmers started with most doing 2 laps.

Tim Cook for his first swim just did one for his first time swimming with us in open water and when he came out his gorgeous little girl Amy was waiting for him with open arms. Very Cute.

The Miers family were there in force, Mum Elaine fresh from marking papers at Homebush was out on the Kayak having a lovely time supporting Scott and Emily as they swam round. Great to see.  These guys did three laps along with Nico, Mischee, Rach, and Dan. By the time these guys got out the wind had appeared and made heading south a bit of a challenge. Something to remember for the 21st.

So it was a lovely morning and a great swim. I’m looking forward to seeing some great results here on the 21st Dec.
Sat 7th Dec we are at Balmoral to swim to support the Melanoma Institute with the Balmoral Beach Club. Details in December Newsletter

Chinamans Beach (NSW, Mosman)

Chinamans Beach (NSW, Mosman)

Rosherville Reserve is a big grassed reserve with lots of trees that provide shade for casual picnics on the grass. There is also a small playground and toilets with change rooms.

Chinamans Beach is not well-known amongst tourists but it is very popular with the locals. It is a very pleasant place to bask in the sun on the beach; to enjoy a lazy picnic or to play family ball games at the Reserve! The Rosherville Reserve is located at McLean Crescent, Mosman with parking on the street.
