La Perouse

Swim Report

SatSwimSat 23rd saw us venture to La Perouse for a lazy 1 to 4hrs. Conditions were almost the complete opposite of the previous week at Shelly to Manly. A very good example of how unpredictable and how different the open water can be.

Last week we dealt with big swell, strong currents rough water and as Rach discovered the dastardly JIMBLE. This week - calm waters, gentle and non damaging sealife. Water temp is still around 20 degrees so it has dropped a little bit but this is much better for our channel swimmers.

Both last week and this week we had a couple of new additions to the mornings, welcome to Rom who discovered how strong currents really are at Manly and to Liz Tucker who overcame her nervousness by swimming 2 km at La Perouse. Rachael returned to the ocean with a 10km swim, still with a swollen lip, Simon, Chris G, Scott D, John C and Fiona pulled out 5, Damian A 4km, Lochie 12 and John J and Marty swam for 4 hours. Even Vlad managed 4km. I minded the bags ( very important job). As the photos show it is a beautiful spot at La Perouse, highly recommended. la perouseWe do aim to swim at a variety of beaches in an attempt to explore what Sydney has to offer. I do know I would have never come to La Perouse if it wasn't for the sat swims.

Bottom line, come and join us - its fabulous.
